Madeleine's Garden

When I think about my favorite places in the world, one of them would have to be Madeleine's house in Millerton, NY.  I met Madeleine when we were residents at the Wassaic Project in Wassaic, NY.  Madeleine recently purchased her first house in the area on a beautiful piece of land, and its been so great seeing the home develop over this past year and a half.  One time when I was there, a neighbor arrived on a horse to invite Madeleine to a party, how rad is that!! I want horse party invites!! Last summer, I was super impressed and excited about Madeleine's new garden, especially when we were eating our freshly picked breakfast greens.  Here are some pics from our 8am harvest, and some information to inspire you to grow this spring!!

In the Garden: dill, mustard greens, cilantro, parsley, green onions, lettuce mix, swiss chard, sage, cucumbers, radishes, cayenne peppers, bell/sweet peppers, mixed tomatoes, basil, and a mixture of flowers that attract the right kind of insects

Madeleine belongs to a farm CSA at Rock Steady Farm and Flowers, which offers a free farming class to their members.  She also did a lot of research on the farmers almanac website.  It takes a lot of patience and experimentation to get your garden right, and I learned a lot from Madeleine just listening to her own unique process.
